Why are there no meals included for the EOY party this year?

APENDL reduced the annual forfait from CHF250 to CHF200 following the majority vote at the AGM last October 2023.

The main reason for this is the huge cost that goes into organizing a large scale event like the EOY party. APENDL does not have the financial visibility to be able to continue to fund these costs. By allowing each guest to pay for their own consumption, less wastage of both food and money can be avoided.

How much does it cost to do the EOY party?

In 2023 it cost APENDL approx. CHF60k for the party. NDL spent an extra CHF40k on the party. The combined expenditure by both APENDL and NDL for the EOY 2023 party was CHF100k.

Why does it cost so much?

A large cost is food and drink. The next big cost is the rental of all the equipment needed to host the event – renting the tent, hospitality staff, stage rental, sound and lighting, tables and chairs, sun parasols. The school does not own this material and they need to rent it each year.

Is there a more economical way to do the EOY party?

Most certainly! APENDL is open to hearing parents suggestions and ideas! This valuable feedback needs to be shared with the school.
